Even if you’re a one-person fundraising department with little time or budget, you can master social media to connect with donors and volunteers. Tim Bete shares what to do if you (1) Don’t know how to use social media technology, (2) Don’t know what kind of content to create, (3) Don’t have time and (4) Don’t have money. His presentation will arm you with the tools to make huge strides in your use of social media and overcome the obstacles that hold you back. Vivian, I use interns from local colleges and they usually work out great. Try contacting a college’s internship office.
Tim thank you so much! This was wonderfully helpful! I came away with really simple, practical ideas for JustTell. One question, any other suggestions for where to find social media interns? We posted it to Idealist (great resource I’m sure you know!) but no luck so far. Thank you. Vivian
What a terrific resource for the non-profit sector. Thanks Tim.
@ThankfulHome
1. you should talk with a lawyer or consultant to get the full requirements.
2. yes
3. no, the donor determines the value of in-kind gifts
“The Agitator” says this video “demolishes four key reasons smaller nonprofits might not use social media.” Cool.
1:What are the requirements for registering a non-profit in the US?
There’s an IRS application and guidelines the organization must meet (e.g., having a board)
2:do you have to keep tracks of all your donations,for the IRS ?
Yes.
3:lets say that 2 is true,what do you do when someone donates an object?you have to determine it’s value?
We provide a receipt stating that we received the item but leave the value determination to the donor.
