Adwords Mistakes – How To Avoid Them

Many advertisers try their luck with Google AdWords but fail. Why have so many failed? – Because they end up making mistakes that they shouldn’t. In this article we shall be looking into 3 such mistakes that will help you avoid them for a better Adwords experience.

Having a low daily budget for your campaign is also an AdWords mistake. Don’t follow the crowd and follow the assumption that if you’re just starting out, then you need to find out what’s working and what’s not by having a low daily budget. But the thing is, if you have a really low budget in the starting phase, your ads won’t even show up for your targeted keywords. So when your ads are not even showing up, how will you be able to garner enough clicks to test out your ads? If you see that you’re not getting enough data to learn about the performance of an ad, then you should go ahead and increase your daily budget. Once you know what ads are converting and which offers are working out for you, it makes more sense to lower your budget.

Another mistake is to use Google’s Content Network to display your ad. This network is actually a network of websites that have partnered with Google to display ads. These sites are usually AdSense based, which is why the results you will get them from aren’t much targeted. So in a way it’s a risk for you because you can’t guarantee a good ROI even after investing money. So it’s better to avoid this network and stick to the ads that appear in the search results.

Last but not the least; don’t make the mistake of stuffing a high number of keywords in a single ad group. As an AdWords advertiser, you need to test your ads to make necessary changes and to improve performance. But if you place hundreds of keywords, all in one ad group, then all the clicks would go to the popular keywords, while all the other ones would get ignored. This would give you confusing data, because you wouldn’t know what keywords are actually performing. So make sure you don’t have more than 10 to 20 keywords in an ad group, which will give you a clear idea about the performing keywords. Once you know what keywords are performing, you can duplicate your results in your other campaigns. But the only thing you should remember is having too many irrelevant keywords in your ad group is a definite route to failure.

In summary, every successful Google AdWords Advertiser has made mistakes at some point of the time. This is because AdWords has a learning curve, and there’s no way around it but to take action and learn from your mistakes. This information was brought to you by http://womenownedbusinessgrants.org, your source for all things related on women owned business grants.
